AeroPress Brew Guide

What Do You Need?

AeroPress.

AeroPress paper or metal filter (depending on your preference).

17g of freshly ground coffee (equivalent to one AeroPress scoop). Use a filter blend, like the Lion's Mane Blend, for this brewing method.

240ml of hot water (just off the boil, around 93°C).

Stirring utensil.

Timer.

Mug or carafe.

Step #1

Prep & Preheat

Start by heating your water. Bring it to a boil and then let it cool for about 30 seconds to reach the ideal brewing temperature of 93°C.

Place the plunger into the top of the AeroPress, just enough to make a seal. Stand the AeroPress, plunger down, on a flat surface.

Following this, put the ground coffee into the AeroPress.

Note: ground coffee should be at a consistency similar to table salt for optimal extraction. For best results, order our whole bean coffee and grind to size. If you are unable to do this, order the filter grind.

Step #2

Bloom & Brew

Pour a small amount of hot water (about twice the weight of your coffee grounds) onto the coffee. This is called the "bloom" and allows gases to escape from the coffee. Stir gently to ensure all the grounds are saturated. Wait for about 30 seconds.

Now, gradually pour the remaining hot water over the coffee grounds, filling the AeroPress chamber to the No.1 line. Use a circular motion to ensure even saturation.

Insert the stirring utensil and give the coffee a gentle stir to make sure the grounds are fully immersed.

Step #3

Steep & Serve

Place a filter in the AeroPress cap and attach it to the brewing chamber. Press down gently until water begins bubbling at the cap of the AeroPress.

Let the coffee steep for about 1-2 minutes, depending on your preference for strength. The longer it steeps, the stronger the coffee will be.

Place your mug securely on the AeroPress and flip the assembly so that the mug is now on the table.

Apply even pressure to the plunger and push down slowly and steadily. The press should take about 20-30 seconds.

Once you hear a hissing sound (indicating that all the liquid has been pressed out), remove the AeroPress from your mug or carafe. Your coffee is now ready to enjoy!
