How to Make Cold Brew Coffee
Ah, the cold brew. With our cold brew coffee guide you can expect a refreshing, light and clean cup. The perfect companion during the warm summer mornings.
What Do You Need?
1 cup of coarsely ground coffee beans.
8 cups of cold, filtered water.
A large jar or pitcher.
Coffee filter or a fine-mesh sieve.
Timer.
Mug or carafe.
Note: scale the above guide appropriately to best suit the quantity of cold brew you would like to brew.
Step #1
Infuse & Immerse
In a large jar or pitcher, combine the coarsely ground coffee and cold, filtered water. Stir well to ensure all the coffee grounds are fully saturated.
Cover the jar or pitcher with a lid or plastic wrap and let the coffee steep at room temperature for 16 hours. The steeping time will affect the strength and flavour of your cold brew, so you can adjust it to your preference. A longer steeping time will result in a stronger brew.
Note: ground coffee should be at a consistency similar to table salt for optimal extraction. For best results, order our whole bean coffee and grind to size. If you are unable to do this, order the filter grind.
Step #2
Strain & Store
After the steeping period, it's time to strain the cold brew. You can use a coffee filter or a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth to filter out the coffee grounds. Strain the coffee into a clean jar or pitcher.
Set aside the cold brew that you would like to consumer immediately, and store any remaining cold brew concentrate in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can be stored for up to two weeks.
Step #3
Dilute & Drink
Your cold brew is highly concentrated, so you may want to dilute it with water or milk to your desired strength.
We recommend diluting with 1 part water or milk, when you are ready to serve.
Experiment with different dilution ratios until you find one that best suits your taste.
